Multi-Touch helps to visualize and interact with medical data (image)

The awesome PyMT library has just been released in version 0.4.

This is a major release that brings a ton of cool new stuff, including a new animation framework, speed & stability improvements and much more. Take a look at the release notes to see what’s new in this release.

I’m using PyMT for my thesis (see picture above) and I love it. Make sure to check the new website, too! (There’s also a new demo video in the works. I will update this posting as soon as it’s available.

Nice, multi-touch on Linux :) Thanks for providing this :) Just one question: are touchpads from laptops supported?

That very much depends on the touchpad. The newer generation multitouch trackpads found in recent macbooks are supported with up to 10 fingers at least (don’t have more fingers to test it). In addition to that, it comes with a mouse simulator if you just want to try stuff but don’t have proper hardware.

What kind of touchpad do you have? The hardware itself must support multi-touch.

Generally, PyMT supports several different input mechanisms. It is designed so that new input devices can be added easily.

Actually you can do that very cheaply yourself.

Take a look at my last posting about this and especially the comments: the-space-station.com/2009/11/19/pymt-multi-touch-with-python
