I have seen quite a few logos that look very similar or almost identical to the ubuntu logo. Let’s make a contest out of this and see who finds the most similar graphic.
This is the logo we all know:
The well-known logo of the Microsoft Alumni Network:
My current favorite (just discovered):
The logo of Pool Invest:
These are my candidates. Can you find others? (Logos of ubuntu derivates do not count!)

OK, the MSA one is at least somewhat different. Strange why the dark blue figures hand is not the same as the other figures, but that’s just a small stylistic thing.
However, Pool Invest is an exact one-one copy with a slightly different palette. Even the relationship of the colours as they step around the circle are the same! I know nothing about that company, so who used the logo first, and who copied who, I don’t know. I’d be surprised if Ubuntu ripped off another company, or allowed another company to use such a similar logo. They (Ubuntu/Canonical/MS) have always seemed very particular about trademark and preventing misuse. If so then that company (or more likely the designer) should be ashamed of themselves.
